México fue un punto de atracción para la generación hippie de San Francisco de los años 60. Y no sólo por la marihuana o por sus playas. Uno de los grupos que cantó las excelencias de este país norteamericano fue Jefferson Airplane.
En 1970 publicaron un single que llevaba por título el de “Mexico”. El grupo grabó la canción en los Pacific High Recording Studios junto con el productor Phil Sawyer. Es un canto contra la operación anti-droga llevada acabo por la administración Nixon, que se englobó bajo el nombre de Operation Intercept. Llegó al número 102 de la lista de singles de Billboard.
